Sunbelt is Alive
02.05.2010 | Michael Kasberg
Here I sit, a month after the new year and about two months before the first round of the fourth annual Texas Sunbelt Series. Things have not slowed down; in actuality, things have picked up. Therefore, I figured it was time for an update on the status of Sunbelt and 211.
To be completely honest, if you would have asked me in January if I was going to do the Sunbelt Series, I would have told you no. With the motocross industry suffering from the economic recession, there is simply zero money to give out, especially to small, relatively new series.
I did not a see a way to provide trophies and prizes for more than 120 racers. Then, things started to look up.
Old sponsors pitched in as much as they could. I spent a week in Lubbock rounding up new sponsorships. Things began to patch together until the Sunbelt had gone from not happening to possible. Of course, there is still quite a bit of work to be done if this thing is going to lift off, but at least the engine is running.
Check out the flyer in the forums and the information on the Sunbelt Series page. Look for our ad in Holeshot Magazine soon, as well as a postcard in your mailbox. Things are off and running. See you guys March 27-28 for the first round of Sunbelt 2010 at 211 Motocross - on a fresh track, by the way.
Contact me any time - I'm here for you guys.
